1924
Mrs. Dorothy Campbell Hurd, now representing the Marion Cricket Club, won her third title, defeating Miss Mary K. Browne, 7 and 6, in the final. Miss Browne, the runnerup, had played golf but a few years, and had been national lawn tennis champion in 1912 and 1913 and a semi-finalist a month earlier in the national lawn tennis Championship.
She upset Miss Collett at the 19th hole in the semi-finals. Miss Collett had set a new record in qualifying with a 79. The Championship was held at Miss Collett's home course, the Rhode Island Country Club, and the entry fell to 98 after a handicap limitation of 10 strokes was imposed.
